With the arrival of experienced All-round (Wet & Dry) Controller and Draft Surveyor Mark Meijland, RVJ Cargo Inspections has been able to fulfill a long-cherished wish. We have expanded our services with an additional service, namely adding Dimethylpolysiloxane or DMPS to edible oils, including refined soya bean oil.

DMPS is an additive, a substance added to a product – in our case, a foodstuff – to enhance its function or a certain property. These include taste, smell, appearance or shelf life. The additive we add to edible oils is a form of silicone used as an anti-foaming agent in foods with the European food additive number E900. This ingredient is widely used in frying oils because of its good deformation effect at high temperatures. It is a clear, colorless, viscous liquid and soluble in non-polar materials and other organic solvents.

Such work requires great accuracy. Consider, for example, the addition of only 80 grams to a volume of liquid of several tons. If the proportions are not right, an entire stock can be rejected. It goes without saying that this work is done by well-trained inspectors.
